Story Stitchers is a community arts organisation led by storytellers and artists Flick Goodman and Tom Barry.
We bring people together through stories, games, making, movement and imagination. We work with children, families, older adults, schools, communities and organisations to create spaces where people can explore ideas, try things out, make things together and find their voice.
We believe creativity works best when there is room to be curious. No pressure. No right answers. No need to be good at art.
Just space to play, make, listen, imagine and share.
Who We Are
Tom Barry
Tom has worked in community arts and live performance for over 20 years, creating projects in local history, theatre, storytelling and movement with people of all ages. He loves helping people discover creative possibilities they didn’t know were there and making creative experiences accessible, engaging and rewarding.
Flick Goodman
Flick has a background in theatre and has spent the last 20 years working creatively with schools, communities and cultural organisations. Her practice brings together storytelling, theatre, creative writing, play and participation. She is interested in helping people find their voice, connecting people with each other and making space for creativity.
Storytelling and Play
We believe that sharing stories can help people connect to themselves, others and where they live at greater depth. Our work is built around listening, curiosity and creative play. We adapt what we do to the people in the room, rather than expecting people to fit into a fixed way of working.
Sometimes that means telling a story.
Sometimes it means making something.
Sometimes it means laughing, listening, playing or simply being alongside other people.
We don’t always know where a story is going when we begin.
That’s part of the fun.
